About

Caring Coalition is a grassroots effort, providing access to good nutrition for Phoenix families who are struggling to feed their children.

Caring Coalition AZ is a backpack food program, providing weekend care packages for downtown Phoenix children in need.
One in four downtown Phoenix children experience food insecurity. Based on the premise that no child should have to face this struggle, Caring Coalition AZ serves school-aged children in Phoenix, Arizona who are going without adequate food. Our care packages provide nutritious snacks for children to eat while home for the weekends. We work with schools in Downtown Phoenix to identify children and families in need.
Caring Coalition AZ started in November of 2013 with neighbors pitching in to help a local family with food for their Thanksgiving meal. Since then we have become a non-profit, recognized by the IRS and a Qualifying Charitable Organization for the Arizona Tax Credit.
Caring Coalition. We are presently serving 90 Preschool-12th grade students weekly. As of September 2018 more that 8,000 weekend care packages have been provided.
We meet weekly at a designated place of business to create the care packages. Since our beginnings children have been an important part of our volunteer force. Our meeting usually take place on Thursdays at 6:00 pm. They are fun, efficient and inclusive. The work take 30 -40 minutes and they there is alway time for fun.
