Volunteer must already be certified in SAIL or complete a free Instructor Training Course provided by Fairfax County's Department of Neighborhood and Community Services, and commit to teaching two full 12 week courses. Volunteer will teach 1-2 hours a week.
The next SAIL Instructor Training will likely be held in August or early September 2019 at Marymount University. If you are not already an approved volunteer with Volunteer Solutions, sign up now so you will be eligible for the course. It takes a few minutes to process new volunteers.
SAIL is strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance, and fitness is the single most important activity adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire curriculum of activities in the SAIL program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly. Exercises can be done sitting or standing.
