What

Are you a lifelong learner who has a passion for history and education? The Fairfield Museum and History Center welcomes applications from prospective docent volunteers. Discover the fascinating people and events that helped to shape our community and share your part of our national story and identity. Whether you’ve lived here for many years or you’re new to the area, discover the rewards of sharing the rich history of our town and region with students, families and adults.

Docents present a variety of educational programs including walking tours of Fairfield’s Historic Town Green, historic house tours at the 1750 Ogden House and exhibition tours at the Fairfield Museum. Docent training is both intellectually stimulating and socially rewarding and includes readings and discussions on various topics in American history and history education. Docents also volunteer assistance at programs, attend lectures presented by scholars, and participate in teacher workshops. Training opportunities are ongoing.
