UPDATE: WHILE WE STRONGLY BELIEVE IN EARTH DAY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF URGENT CLIMATE ACTION, KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE AND HEALTHY FROM CORONAVIRUS AND LIMITING LARGE PUBLIC GATHERINGS TO FLATTEN THE CURVE AND LIMIT SOCIAL SPREAD IS A TOP PRIORITY FOR US AND THE ORGANIZERS AND ORGANIZATIONS HOSTING. WE ASK YOU PLEASE USE CAUTION, CONTINUE SOCIAL DISTANCING, AND #CLIMATESTRIKEONLINE INSTEAD OF MARCHING. PLEASE STAY IN TOUCH FOR UPDATES. THANKS. READ OUR FULL STATEMENT HERE.

Earth Week 2020 and Earth Day 2020 (Wednesday, April 22) will mark the 50th anniversary of the world's first major environmental movement. In NYC, it will be a week of arts and culture events, learning opportunities, rallies, marches, and climate activism. During Earth Week NYC environmentalists, youth climate strikers, allies, and caring people from around the city will use Earth Day 2020 as a platform to call attention to the urgency of protecting the place we all live: Earth.

On Wednesday, April 22nd, Earth Day NYC will include a massive river-to-river Earth Day march across Manhattan between the East River starting outside the United Nations headquarters and walking across NYC to the Hudson River. More info will be shared as the march route and day's programming is finalized.

Let's use the Earth Week 2020 to send a clear message to our leaders in a critical election year that we need (and demand) climate action now. On the first Earth Day in 1970, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. By the end of that year, the first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. We can use that same hope, positivity, togetherness, and people power again as we push for a Green New Deal and effective environmental laws in a critical election year.

Please mark your calendar and RSVP to receive reminders and additional info as NYC Earth Week 2020 events get planned.
