The most popular activities are building tables and assembling dressers because they have a team building element. The type of furniture you build will generally be determined by what we need the most in the warehouse. These projects require a donation to help the Furniture Bank cover the costs of materials. Each table/dresser costs $40 in materials. All items built are given directly to Furniture Bank clients. A group of X people will typically build X number of items in a 3 hour period. So if 30 people come for 3 hours you can assume they will build 30 pieces. Building groups can choose to build this amount or any amount less than that.
So, if you have 10 people come, you'll build around 10 pieces. At $40 per piece of furniture, the total donation would come to $400. You can either set a max budget before or choose to be invoiced after for however many pieces you actually build. The second option allows the group to build at their own pace, as some groups build over the estimate and some build under.
If if you cannot cover the suggested budget, you can choose to build for part of your time and move on to non-budget projects after.
