If you are interested in criminal and social justice reform, then this volunteer opportunity is for you! Gideon’s Promise envisions a nation where every person has access to zealous, outstanding representation necessary to ensure "equal justice for all" in the criminal justice arena. You will have an opportunity to meet and work with the Gideon’s Promise Community, which includes public defenders from across the country, our own staff, and nationally-recognized panelists in the field of indigent defense.
We need 25 volunteers to assist withmockvoir dire workshops. Voir dire is the process by which prospective jurors are questioned about their backgrounds and potential biases before being chosen to sit on a jury. During the simulatedvoir dire workshop, our volunteers will service as potential jurors as our public defenders enhance their skills with the voir dire process.
Volunteers are needed 4.5 hours:
- Monday 8/12/19 volunteers are needed during the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* There will be a 1-hour orientation provided at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 12, 2019 at Atlanta Metropolitan State College 1630 Metropolitan Parkway SW, Atlanta, GA 30310 This will be a great opportunity to students interested in a career in law or others interested in finding out more about the jury selection process.
