Our mission is to facilitate the environmental health of the Gowanus Canal and its watershed by serving as a trusted resource and guiding the vision and transformation of the watershed with respect for the history of the community.
The Gowanus Canal Conservancy is a Brooklyn-based, non-profit organization that serves as an environmental steward to the Gowanus Canal and it's watershed. Our vision is focused on creating a clean and accessible canal and a resilient and healthy watershed for the community to understand, enjoy, and appreciate for generations to come.
We organize monthly Clean & Green and Composting volunteer events, in which volunteer-based environmental stewardship projects are developed and implemented.
