What

Camp to Belong MA serves 100+ siblings who have been separated by the foster care system in Massachusetts. For a week in August, these siblings get to spend a week together at Camp Matoaka, in Smithfield, ME, engaging in both traditional camp and sibling repair activities.
This year, we have a sibling group who are D/deaf and use ASL. We are looking for 1-2 individuals (ages 21+) who have the ability to translate between hearing people and ASL users, to assist us in making our previously hearing camp accessible and welcoming for D/deaf siblings. These individuals would be paired with this sibling group and travel throughout the camp day with them, as part of a team of other counselors and campers (who are hearing). Individuals must complete a volunteer application, which includes references and background checks. The dates of Camp to Belong are August 9th-16th; the first two days are volunteer counselor training, and the last five are full-blown camp adventures! Qualified and interested individuals please contact Eliza Kenney, Camp Director: siblingconnections. [email protected] or 617-501-1229. Thank you!
