Veterans Moving Forward is a nonprofit organization based in Sterling, Virginia, dedicated to the raising, training, and placement of service dogs with eligible disabled veterans. We are looking for a Graphic Design Volunteer to conceptualize ideas and create clever, on-brand, visually captivating content in support of marketing campaigns. Competencies: -Team player who is able to work cross-functionally and remotely in an environment that can be fast-paced -Interest in telling compelling stories through design, expertise with digital platforms and web-based content -Excellent aesthetic sensibility for color, typography, and other design components -Highly proficient with graphic design programs including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat -Able to take direction from Marketing & Communications Director and collaborate to design an email or social media campaign flyer from concept to launch -Make intelligent recommendations for design in planning discussions -Develop graphics independently to support external marketing initiatives, including cross-promotions, experience working with multimedia a plus -Budget time to meet established deadlines for all deliverables -Provide updates at every stage of the process -Ensure brand consistency across products -Resize assets as needed to suit the specific platform, experience with designing content for various mobile platforms would be helpful -Consult with Marketing Director on design layouts, implement any changes, finalize products for hand-off and launch -Create design templates and manage/organize graphic design assets in an inventory on SharePoint -Prior experience with SharePoint and email campaign platforms a plus -Strong following across personal social media platforms a plus Preferred: -2+ years agency experience or can provide a link to an online portfolio of work -Connected to the mission and vision of Veterans Moving Forward

We need compassionate volunteers to teach and facilitate classes at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center!Opportunities are as follows:*Time Commitment- 3 hrs/wk**We ask that you're able to commit a minimum of 1 year for our teaching and mentorship opportunities*Life Skills:Students explore and discuss budgeting, decision making, mental health, and communication. Class meets once a week for 5 weeks.Fatherhood:Students explore and discuss the role of the father in the family, the challenges of parenting after separation, stages of childhood development, communication, discipline, and more. Class meets once a week for 10 weeks.Anger Management:The class helps students identify the beliefs, triggers, thoughts and feelings in their personal "Cycle of Violence". Students discover practical tools and techniques to break the cycle. Class meets once a week for 7 weeks.Employability Skills:Students focus on workplace communication, preparing job applications, workplace etiquette, practicing interview skills, and a mock interview session. Class meets once a week for 7 weeks.Mentor program:Volunteers mentor inmates before and after their release from the Loudoun jail. Mentoring pairs are matched based on age, interests, and need. 15 month commitment (3 months inside the jail pre-release; 12 months in the community post-release). 2hrs/wk.Training, coaching, and continuing education provided for all volunteers.
