You would facilitate or assist in facilitating group games, arts and crafts, sports, academic projects, and many other enriching experiences! You are welcome to specialize in particular types of activities, if you have preferences. While guiding children through activities, you would also encourage children to develop positive character traits, such as creativity, empathy, and resilience. This is a fun and meaningful chance to be a role model who helps children to become their best selves. You would have a great time spending your day playing and learning with enthusiastic and ceaselessly curious children. The time commitment is at least 4 weeks. You pick which weekday(s) and shift(s) work best for you within the hours of 7:00 AM- 7:00 pm. Even if you are only available for a few hours each week, your time would be very appreciated. If you are eager to spread some joy into a child's life, we cannot wait to hear from you. This is an especially great opportunity for college and high school students! In thanks for your commitment to improving the lives of children at our summer program, we would be happy to write a letter of recommendation and serve as a reference for future opportunities and college/scholarship applications.Thank you so much! Please email us at: info@communityenv.orgSince you will be working with children, some paper work/training is required. Fight Voter Supression & Volunteer with Spread the Vote (Virginia)

Spread the Vote

Flexible times

Currently, about 11% of voting age Americans (that’s over 21 million people) lack a government-issued ID – 13% of African-Americans, 10% of Hispanics, and 5% of whites – and ID's are often used (improperly) as a barrier to suppress voting. That's where volunteers like you can help us fight voter suppression and get IDs to US Citizens and registered voters in need. In the state of Virginia, you have to have a government issued photo ID to vote. You can vote with one of these required IDs: - Valid Virginia Driver’s License or Identification Card - Valid Virginia DMV issued Veteran’s ID card - Valid United States Passport - Other government-issued photo identification cards (must be issued by US Government, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or a political subdivision of the Commonwealth) - Tribal enrollment or other tribal ID issued by one of 11 tribes recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia - Valid college or university student photo identification card (must be from an institution of higher education located in Virginia) - Valid student ID issued by a public school or private school in Virginia displaying a photo - Employee identification card containing a photograph of the voter and issued by an employer of the voter in the ordinary course of the employer’s business To get involved with Spread the Vote in Virginia and help voters get IDs, use the "Get Involved" button to get in touch. If you need an ID, please visit our website for ways to contact us and get help.
