Amsterdam, Netherlands —Brightest, a Certified B Corp and leading global sustainability data, reporting, and performance solutions-provider, is pleased to announce the release of its first annual corporate sustainability report. The report provides an overview of the company’s achievements, material topics, and ongoing efforts to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its operations and business practices throughout 2024.

As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, Brightest has compiled this comprehensive, voluntary report to offer stakeholders a clear view of the company’s progress in advancing key sustainability objectives. These include measures to baseline and reduce its organizational carbon footprint, enhance social equity, and contribute to global goals through commitment to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“I’m genuinely proud to release our first sustainability report, which reflects our dedication to follow our own practices, drive positive change, and integrate sustainability, transparency, and sound governance across the organization,” said Chris Bolman, Co-Founder and CEO of Brightest. “Our efforts in 2024 mark an important milestone as we work to set a baseline for Brightest’s sustainability efforts, while using and improving our own products and services to do so. This report not only outlines our progress, but also serves as a platform for future growth and deeper engagement with our clients, partners, and communities. Most importantly, and contrary to certain false public narratives, we want to show that sustainability reporting isn’t a burden for startups and small businesses — it’s an opportunity.”

"Writing this report was a journey for us. Fortunately, using our software and receiving support from our consulting team made a big difference and eased this process," said Nina Benoit, Director of Sustainability at Brightest. “I'm really happy with the final outcome, and I believe it's essential for a company like ours to lead by example by being fully transparent about our own environmental and social impact. This is just our first report, and we're already excited to launch new initiatives in 2025 to further improve our ESG performance and have a positive impact on both people and the planet."

Key highlights from the report include:

- Brightest's 2024 Sustainability Report includes its first operational Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory, with Scope 3 emissions representing 96% of the total.

- Brightest utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers and technology, which have been powered by 100% renewable energy since 2023, to deliver its product worldwide with a low environmental footprint, high uptime, and high business resiliency.

- A 2024 internal materiality assessment identified GHG emissions (especially Scope 3 from business travel), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and ESG risk management as the most material topics for Brightest.

- Brightest aligns its work and operations closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

- Building, developing, and supporting an inclusive, diverse, and multi-cultural, global team is a top social priority, with 58% women representation and comprehensive DEI training completed by all employees.

The release of this report is an important step for Brightest as the company continues to strengthen its commitment to responsible corporate practices and drives progress toward a more sustainable future.
